Without a doubt, David Roy Eldridge remains, for all-time, one of jazz trumpet's greatest stylists. A supreme individualist, who appeared to put everything into his each and every solo - as if it might be his very last. The Eldridge approach - especially, of course, in live performance he was emotive plus exciting and Dynamic. More often than not, he was truly electrifying. He remained an exemplar of what was once known as 'hot jazz'.
